Highs and Lows of EPL Week 22

The Red Devils were brought back to earth with a dump when Southampton won 1-0 at Old Trafford, second time in 2 seasons, after last week's high at Anfield. Only one shot on target showed how impotent the Devils were. LvG was rightly booed off the ground though he blamed it on the long list of injuries, the latest being Darmain who vomited blood from a rib and chest injury. Charlie Austin who just signed for the Saints this week scored the 87 min winner. It was a total flop, an insipid performance. This could indicate the last days of the LvG reign. The sooner the better.

How long will LvG last now that Jose Mourinho just wrote a 'charm' letter to Utd wanting to be the next manager?
"Jose Mourinho has written Manchester United a six-page letter explaining his strong desire to manage the club and how he would be willing to adhere to United’s principles. He also outlined his plans for the team, and the key decisions he would take."

Louis van Gaal
LvG walked off the Old Trafford pitch amidst the chorus of boos

The most thrilling match of the season so far should be the Liverpool's 5-4 win over Norwich at Carrow Road. It was at the very last kick of the match by Lallana that the Reds won the match. Klopp could not 'find his glasses without his glasses' after it was broken in the celebrations.

Highs and Lows of EPL Week 21

12 Jan 2016
For once, the Red Devils were involved in a goal feast. Leading 2-0 at St James Park at one time, they allowed lowly Newcastle to snatch a 90th minute goal to draw 3-3 at the end. It was an end to end affair. Rooney scored a brace. Now it was the defence who went missing!!

Rooney scored the third Utd goal but game ended up in a draw.

Arsenal suffered the same fate at Anfield which stopped them from extending the lead at the top.
Manchester City and Everton drew 0-0. Chelsea also drew with WBA, 2-2.

The team which benefited most was Leicester which scored a late goal against Spurs to go joint second.

Chelsea was the latest to create drama in coming back from 2-0 down against Everton at Stamford Bridge to draw 3-3 with a 97 minute goal by John Terry.

It has been a very good week for Wayne Rooney. He scored the 78th minute winner at Anfield, his first in 10 years at the hallowed ground!!
Man Utd was poor and it was the ultimate smash and grab robbery against their fierciest rival. LvG's team had only one shot on target the whole match and it was the winner!

Highs and Lows of EPL Week 20 FA Cup 3rd Rd

Big news from La Liga
The 'fat Spanish Waiter' aka Rafa Benitez was sacked as Real Madrid manager after just 7 months of uneasy tenure. Zinedine Zidane took over.

Benitez's last game was a 2-2 draw at Valencia, managed by Gary Neville

Once again, LvG faced heaps of criticism over his side's laboured 1-0 win over 3rd tier Sheffield Utd. It took a last minute injury time penalty from Rooney for the Red Devils to creep into the 4th Rd. With only 2 goal attempts on target, this match was a total BORE! It is NOT something the shirt sponsor Adidas was looking for.

The only Premier league casualty is Swansea who lost to league Div 2 Oxford Utd by 2-3.

Highs and Lows of EPL Week 19 2016

2nd Jan 2016
LvG remained and speculations of his impending sack petered out as a nervy Red Devils side carved out a 2-1 win over Swansea at Old Trafford. Familiar story....dominant but few goals. This time, Rooney's winner lifted told Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney moved to second on his own in the all-time list of Premier League top-scorers by netting the winner in Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday.
Rooney is now on 188 goals, one ahead of third-placed Andrew Cole, but still 72 adrift of first-placed Alan Shearer, who is on 260.

Arsenal remained TOP with an unconvincing 1-0 win over relegation form Newcastle who boss the Gunners around at Emirates but could not score.

Leicester seemed to be slowing down as Bournemouth drew 0-0, their third game with scoring. Mahrez now could not even score from a penalty. Are the Foxes falling?

Klopp's fairy tale honeymoon is over. He was angry at the team's 2-0 loss at Upton Park.
"Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp admitted he was angry with his players after a dismal showing at West Ham saw the Reds fall to a 2-0 defeat." reports Mirror
